Star Trek Fan Club has recently celebrated its 10 years anniversary, and since its establishment on November 18th, 1995 by Jindřich Nepevný and Irena Hradecká it continues on its mission:
To serve as a meeting point for people with common interest in STAR TREK, regardless of their age, political opinions, sex, race or religion, with the aim to facilitate exchange of knowledge of STAR TREK, to contribute to popularization of STAR TREK in the Czech Republic and last, but not least, to provide its members with enjoyable way of spending their free time.
The foundation of the CZ Kontinuum Fan Club was accompanied with publication of the first issues of a magazine "Irelevantní svět" (Irrelevant World). During the first year, the world of STAR TREK as presented in the series and movies of that time, was introduced to Czech fans. First year counted six issues, each of 16 pages.
At the end of 1996 web pages of the fan club were launched.
Change in the leadership of the Kontinuum Fan Club occurred in autumn 1997, and the club went under the command of Andrea Píchová. In the same year, on November 22 to be exact, game of Ships' Logs was started. Please check out the section of Fan Club's Activities.
In the beginning of 1999 the helm of the club was taken by Michaela Dudková. Many things changed during four years of Michaela's leadership. The "Irrelevant World" magazine was published regularly four times a year with 28 pages in each issue. The year 2000 saw the start of electronic edition of the magazine which led to different types of membership depending on the type of subscription - printed or electronic (through e-mail or floppy disk). Star Trek Register was published to provide interesting information about races of Star Trek. During 2000 Fan Club's web pages were redesigned and new section - the Database (Ship's Library) was added and is growing ever since.
In autumn 2000 the Kontinuum Fan Club was participating in organization of very popular PSSTcon (First Independent Star Trek Convention} where, for the first time, an actor dubbing character in Star Trek show on Czech TV took part {Sylva Talpová lending Czech voice to captain Janeway from Star Trek: Voyager). Thanks to huge success, convention was repeated the following year, in 2001. For more information please visit http://con.startrek.cz.
First guests from abroad to take part in the Club's special meetings with interesting people from the Star Trek world were Larry and Janet Nemeceks. The meeting was held just one month after the second PSSTcon, in October 2001.
Following May, Star Trek fans in Czech Republic had for the first time the opportunity to meet actors from the show - Garrett Wang (Harry Kim in Star Trek Voyager) and Alice Krige (the Borg queen from Star Trek: First Contact and Star Trek: Voyager}.
In autumn, CZ Kontinuum celebrated another success when Robert Picardo (Holodoctor in Star Trek Voyager) accepted invitation to Prague and met with Czech fans of Star Trek.
During meeting on November 16th, 2002 Michaela Dudková stepped down after two successive terms in the office of chairman of the CZ Kontinuum Fan Club and handed it over to Jana Krčmářová and Martin Böhm.
In 2003 convention with several guests from both abroad and Czech Republic was held. Czech fans had the opportunity to meet in person with Ethan Phillips (Neelix, Star Trek: Voyager), Zdeňek Bureš (Czech voice of Neelix), Chase Masterson (Leeta, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) and Lolita Fatjo (long-term colleague of creators of Star Trek).
In November 2005 the club has celebrated its 10th aniversary by organising two days event "The Cocoon - Your pod of entertainment".
In May 2006 the club organised meeting with actor Dominic Keating (Malcolm Reed, Star Trek: Enterprise).
